At Clyde Valley Pet Retreat, we pride ourselves on being the first small scale luxury boutique dog hotel in Scotland. Our desire to do this came from the terrible experience our late and beloved Afghan Hound Basil had at a boarding kennel in Glasgow. He came home half a stone lighter, stinking of urine and desperately ill. From that day, we vowed to create something truly special. We didn’t want to just create luxury kennels, we wanted to create luxury boarding suites which would offer dogs the similar kind of comfort & environment they are used to at home. We spent almost four years researching the dog boarding industry, visiting many kennels around Scotland and searching for the right property. From our research we could see that there was a gap in the market for a small scale facility with large suites finished to the highest of standards offering personal one to one care and attention for dogs and peace of mind for owners. We knew that the concept and the facilities we wanted to create were right as we had some excellent advice from the country’s leading kennel designer and from that Clyde Valley Pet Retreat was born.

On the 20th May 2011, we opened our doors for the first time with just two large suites. Since then our reputation has spread far and wide to the extent that we now have clients who bring their dogs from places as far away as Aberdeen and North Yorkshire. To keep up with this demand, we decided earlier this year to open two more suites.

Since opening our two new luxury dog boarding suites at the end of August 2012, we have been very busy indeed. We have had a wonderful variety of dogs come and stay with us including Cocker Spaniels, Chihuahuas, English Setters, Labradors, Bulldogs, Boxers, Maltese Terriers, Briards, Hungarian Vizslas, Jack Russells, Cairn Terriers plus many others too numerous to mention . Having four suites has allowed us to cater for the increasing demand for high quality luxury dog boarding facilities whilst keeping the business small enough to still give the right levels of care, love and attention. Whilst more suites mean a little more work, more importantly it means we can help create more happy, content, relaxed, stress free dogs who can have a peaceful and enjoyable holiday whilst their owners enjoy the luxury of being on holiday without constantly worrying if their dogs are OK or not.
